Posture, 2017. wire, string, rope, wax and plaster, variable dimensions Bra, 2016. wire, string and plaster, 10.5" x 12" x 7"
For "Posture," (2017) and "Bra," (2016), I was interested in using industrial materials such as wire, plaster and string to depict braziers. This disjointed use of material in correlation to femininity and the body prompts questions in relation to feminism, fashion, and the value of craft. What appears to be soft, delicate and desirable reveals itself anew, perhaps as strong, empty, or uncomfortable.
System in Pink, 2017. Fleece and thread, variable dimensions
I was inspired by the Women's March for "System In Pink," (2017). This piece is about activating, understanding and representing the spirit of a march or protest in relation to a larger movement or global conversation.
